Thoughts on Fasting

From Ezra 8:

To find a right way:
1) For Us v.21 (Ezra 8:21)
2) For our Children v.21
3) For our Substance v.21

V.23 – They fasted and God was intreated.
V.22 – They were ashamed to ask the king for soldiers to help against their enemy since they had publicly stated God would help.
V.31 – God’s hand was on them and helped.

From Isaiah 58:
Fast to:
1)Loose the bands of wickedness
2)Undo heavy burdens
3) Set free the oppressed
4)Break every yoke

From Matthew 6:
Fast secretly and let God reward you openly.
