Whew. Spring Cleaning time is here! From cleaning the windows to cleaning out the closets, it can be a daunting task. More than likely the things are not an eye sore to anyone. No one really notices after all, right? However, when you see the finished product, you stand back with a half-smile on your face and think, “Wow. I didn’t realize it was so bad, but it looks great now!”
This really provides a great spiritual application. In our lives, small, minuscule things creep in and we don’t even realize it. A seed of bitterness that has sprouted. Worry. Omitting our Bible reading. A weak prayer life. You can fill in the blank with your own ‘small’ dust ball that has accumulated under your Spiritual bed. Just like the film that covers the basement window, if you don’t think about it, it might not bother you. But it’s still there.
Just for today, let’s do some Spiritual spring cleaning. Is there something in your life that you have ‘let go?’ If so, take care of it today. As we look around us and see new life in this wonderful season, let’s really live in the fullness of Christ by cleaning out those things that ‘so easily beset us.’
