“The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Anyone know who said this? It has been attributed to: Edmund Burke, Gandhi, Tolstoy’s War and Peace…..It has also been put many different ways, always saying about the same thing. Nonetheless, it is true.

Nathan didn’t have to do a thing. He could sit back and let this happen without getting involved. He could have just given Bathsheba advice and never spoken to the king himself. Nathan knew the only way for this to stop was to do something.

Do Something. I challenge you to make a commitment to yourself to stop griping about things in the world that you have no intention of doing anything about. Rather than just talk about how bad things are, do something to make things better. You may only be able to make a small impact…Lots of small impacts will become a big impact! All that Nathan could do was continue doing what he had always done. As God’s prophet he had always told the king and the nation the truth from God. Here, he does just the same.

“Doing Something” may not be any different for you. It may just mean doing what you have always done. The alternative is to sit, look the other way, and let things happen that you feel are not right before God.
