We established last time that Solomon asked for help.

“Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.” – 1 Kings 5:6

Now we also see that Solomon is not too proud to admit a weakness. We can cut trees…surely. But, none of us can do it like you all can.

This made for a good working relationship with Hiram.

  • V.7 – He rejoiced, he Blessed the Lord, he considered Solomon to be wise.
  • V.8 – He agreed to provide the wood.

Admit weakness.

We don’t have to go around making ourselves seem incompetent to everyone we meet. We also shouldn’t go around acting as if we know everything and can alone do anything. The problem with becoming over self-sufficient to man is that it unknowingly leads us to become this way toward God.  Never become unwilling to admit your weakness.
