Put Others Before Self

Put Others Before Self

Reading: 1 Kings 1:29-40

David was still the King at this Point. But things were bad and needed to fixed. In spite of the throne, mule, kingdom still being his…David placed Solomon in those places. For example: V.33 “…mine own mule…”, V.34 “…God save king Solomon…”, V.35 “…sit upon my throne…”. As King, David could have solved the problem without turning it all over to Solomon. But David preferred others before self. He not only thought for his good and the good of the whole, but he also worked toward the individual good (Solomon, Bathsheba, etc.). Put others before self. Even when they can do nothing for you in return. Romans 12:10 states, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;” Also, 1 Peter 5:5, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
